Privacy policy
Last updated: August 30, 2026
This policy describes the Couple Reminder app and couplereminder.com. The app uses shared spaces to help people coordinate reminders. The website explains the app and links to its store listings.
Accounts and shared spaces
No email or password is required to use the app. An anonymous account identifier is created automatically for authentication. A generated device nickname and a profile color help distinguish members. “Anonymous account” does not mean that no data is processed.
Data used by the app
- Account identifiers, device nicknames, shared-space membership, and access roles.
- Reminder titles, notes, due times, assignments, completion information, and update timestamps.
- Saved location-circle labels, coordinates, and radii.
- Push notification tokens and operational information needed to synchronize data, deliver reminders, secure the service, and diagnose failures.
Members of a shared space can access its shared reminder information according to their role. Reminder data is stored on the device and synchronized through the cloud when connected.
Location and notifications
When location reminders are enabled, your phone’s operating system monitors saved areas. Background location permission allows the app to notify that device when it enters an area. Saved circle coordinates and labels are shared within the space; they are distinct from a continuous history of where your phone has been. The app does not continuously upload your current position to the Couple Reminder backend.
You can change notification and location permissions in device settings. Reminder titles may appear in notifications and on the lock screen; review your device’s notification privacy settings.
Service providers and advertising
Providing the app involves processing data through service providers. This is why we do not describe app data as “never shared.”
- Supabase provides cloud storage, synchronization, and authentication.
- Expo, Apple Push Notification Service, and Firebase Cloud Messaging help deliver notifications.
- Google AdMob serves ads in the iPhone and Android apps. Advertising services may process device identifiers and related device information. Review the app’s advertising privacy choices where available.
The marketing website does not display AdMob ads. App advertising choices and website analytics choices are separate.
Maps, place searches, and address lookups may also be processed by the mapping and geocoding services used by your device platform. These operations may involve the address you search for or the coordinates you select.
Retention and deletion
You can remove reminders in the app. A space owner can delete a shared space. Removing a member revokes that member’s access. Deletion first marks records as deleted or removes access; permanent removal is not necessarily immediate. Deleting or uninstalling the app does not automatically delete shared cloud data or prove ownership of data remaining in a shared space.
Contact remindercouple@gmail.com about access, export, or deletion requests. Because accounts use anonymous identifiers, we may need information to locate the relevant space and verify your authority. Do not send invitation codes or sensitive reminder content in an initial email. Data may remain in backups or operational records as needed to maintain security and process requests.
Security
The service uses encrypted connections and database access controls to restrict access to shared-space data. It does not provide end-to-end encryption. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Optional website analytics
Website analytics is off by default. If Google Analytics is configured and you choose Accept analytics, it measures page visits and clicks on App Store or Google Play download links. Selecting Reject analytics, closing the prompt without accepting, or leaving it unanswered keeps this optional tracking off.
The website sends the page path, the referring website’s origin (not its full page address), and, for download clicks, the store platform and button placement. It does not send reminder content, invitation codes, email addresses, or account identifiers from the app. Page query strings and fragments are excluded. Google Analytics can also process technical information about your browser and device and set first-party analytics cookies. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.
Your analytics choice is stored in this browser so the site can remember it. Use Analytics settings in the footer to review or withdraw consent. Withdrawing stops further analytics collection and removes the site’s Google Analytics cookies; the page may reload to stop an already-loaded analytics library. If browser storage is unavailable, a choice may not persist between pages. With JavaScript disabled, website analytics does not run.
Google processes analytics information according to its privacy policy. The website’s hosting provider also processes ordinary request information to serve and secure the site. This operational processing is separate from optional Google Analytics.
App-store links
Download links may contain a campaign label identifying this website and its landing page. App stores can report aggregate visits and downloads attributed to those links, subject to their own settings and reporting limits. These labels do not contain your reminder information or a personal identifier. Apple and Google apply their own privacy policies when you visit their stores.
Children
Couple Reminder is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us.
